What does the AG stand for?

I'm not absolutely sure what the AG actually stands for, but I do know that it is the German-Austrian-Swiss (and the like) equivalent of 'Inc.' or 'Ltd.'. I believe that you pronounce it something like:

Achtsen-Gesellschaft (Not 100% sure, but that's close. I know that the spelling's off.)
