Average price for a woodie?

That's odd...only 3 million? Seems like it would be more.

Well, Cornball Express was 2.9 million dollars and Hoosier Hurricane was 4 million. Shivering Timbers costed 4.5 million...so maybe 3 million is your average?

I never said it wasn't a good woodie. It looks like a fantastic woodie! I was just wondering since Ghostrider was $20 mill (and I know about the earthquake proofing) Looks like HW got their monies worth!

Ghostrider was also an entry in the biggest sweepstakes which can run up the price tremendously. But you can build Legend, Raven, Phoenix, Hershey's Wildcat, or Roar, for a reasonable price and have a terrific coaster without spending enormous amounts of money. But these woodies do require lots of TLC and are harder to promote in advertising to the general public.

Any idea what the Beast cost?

I seem to recall about 4.5million for The Beast, but that was in 1978/9 dollars.

They estimated that if the Beast was built today it would cost around 8 million. I think I heard that right.

I would say 5 mil.

One note. When comparing quoted coaster prices, it can be difficult to compare apples to apples. Sometimes the quoted price includes only the coaster contract itself. Other times it includes land costs, overheads, landscaping, themeing, the photo booth, etc. which can really run up the costs.

Wood is a lot cheaper than steal, although wood requires a lot of maintenance, where as steal don't.

I guess you're new here, arrowfreak, so I'll go easy on you. I've noticed a few of your posts with less-than-stellar grammar and spelling. Those are two things we really try to get right here on CoasterBuzz.

"Steal" is something Lloyd McClendon did to first base a few nights ago at a Pirates game. "Steel" is the material they build coasters with. ;)
