I'm planning to visit Dollywood in December as part of an anniversary trip. According to the website, they are open from 2 PM-9 PM. Does anyone know if there are any ride closures during this time of the year? Thanks!

All the water rides will be closed. The coasters will all be open provided it's warm enough (each coaster has a specific temp that falls in the 40-30 degree range). The flats will all be open as will the train.

Make sure you stay after dark, Dollywood puts up over 5 million Christmas lights. Also try and catch the shows, especially Christmas in the Smokies. Be prepared that most of the guests will be there for the shows not the rides that time of year; the coasters should all be virtual walk ins but theaters will fill prior to showtime, so get there early.

It's a lot of fun that time of year. Big crowds but waits are rarely very long.

Thanks! I'm very excited! Do you know if ticket prices are less expensive that time of the year? Not that it matters - it's Dollywood! It'll be worth it!

On day tickets no, but they typically run a buy a 2016 season pass get in free for Christmas 2015. If you plan on going back for Hot Rod next year, it will be worth it, bump up to gold for free parking a 10% off merchandise and food.

Shhh. How dare you post a thread about this?

:)

This is, quite possibly, one of my favorite times to visit a park; the other being Friday nights and Sundays (Halloweekends) in mid October at Cedar Point.

You will certainly see big crowds, but 91.6% of those people are there for the shows, so if you are looking to ride this is such a beautiful time to visit this park. The x-mas display the park puts on is nearly worth the price of admission in and of itself. The food, the atmosphere, and the "virtually everything is a walk-on" makes this THE perfect time to visit Dollywood in my opinion.

Might just see you there!

Smoky Mountain Christmas is hands down my favorite park experience. We're going to try to make that happen again next year. Enjoy!

Lightning Rod will be closed.

But the cinnamon bread will more than make up for that.

And after your successful trip to Dollywood you'll have to try Silver Dollar City the next time. Even better.
