The parent company of Sandusky's Cedar Point amusement park has grown at a steady clip amid a still-challenging economy, and unlike its roller coasters, it's not planning to come to a screeching halt after reaching record heights.

The interesting thing in the article is the distinction the company makes between revolutionary and evolutionary thinking. Cedar Point has always been a destination where people have gone to stay and enjoy diversions like rides, food, drinks, music, and bathing. So, nothing here is really new except the fresh approach. The company has found ways to evolve their flagship park by reinventing resources already on hand and, happily, it seems to be working for them.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if someday we see another resort hotel or two. Like Disney, they see the value in inviting guests from afar and making multiple-day stays attractive. Since the 60's the amusement park itself has grown so that it can easily accommodate an increased number of overnight visitors mixed in with the traditional day trippers.
