We have a lot of fun at their expense around here and they're at it again. The park that refuses to die.

This ad will run at a local movie theater...

...one theater...

...locally.

The corn is saved!

Wow they really captured that empty park feeling with each image.

Somebody made the comment that the post WAS made on April 1st....

But apparently it's real, and they'll be back. I read through many comments and they're positive. People seem to love the place and are happy they'll be open again.

Family friendly pricing? Granted it was a few years ago, but the last time I was there I think it cost us all of 6 bucks for a band.

Maybe I'll try to take a trip over there this summer and see how things are getting along. (ok, ok, I'll call first...) I didn't mind the place the last time, but I guess I'm as much a fan of funky parks as I am of the others. And maybe the fact that they're poor has led them to hang onto some of the classic rides that are hard to find these days, and that's a good thing.

I've posted here before that I have some fondness for Conneaut, and I think the Blue Streak has a terrific profile - and that the park is down to almost nothing, the Blue Streak is in terrible condition, and I don't see how this park can hang on in its present circumstances, and given local competition.

That said, for what I assume is a locally and cheaply produced ad, it's a pretty good effort. And if they can build back business it's going to start from the ultralocal market, not people driving from Pittsburgh. So I'm not inclined to mock this. They're still in the game and I wish them the best.

Not going to lie: on my one visit to Conneaut (ACE's 2010 convention), I was underwhelmed.

That said: that commercial, made with limited resources for one "public" showing, is well done. Kudos to those involved in the production of the commercial.

Did anyone see that they were having some sort of volunteer clean-up day? Sure! I can't think of a better community service project than cleaning up a dying amusement park that can't afford to pay actual employees to do it.

And there's the cynicism towards the park I was expecting!

CoasterBuzz is awesome.

High five!

I can't think of a better business move than having people volunteer to do stuff other parks pay employees to do.... :-P

Here's another lame park using volunteers to clean floors and wash dishes. :-)

Except they get paid an hourly rate and receive admission to the park in some cases.

And they are helping an actual charity and not the park.

No charm in that.

The trick was to surrender to the flow.
