A 20-year-old woman attending a fireworks show was hit by a stray bullet likely from celebratory gunfire on New Year's Eve, Tampa Police said. Police said the bullet likely came from someone shooting a gun into the air outside of Busch Gardens and may have traveled a mile or so before coming down where it hit her.

Celebratory gunfire? Your country mystifies me sometimes.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

The firing of guns into the air on New Years Eve was completely foreign to me until I moved to San Diego. Apparently it's a tradition that came from south of the border. Drives the local law enforcement crazy. It's not unusual for them to have several of these calls on NYE here.

Mystifies quite a large percentage of US, too...

Certainly mystifies me. "I'll shoot this small projectile into the air so that it can plummet to Earth somewhere." How is that fun? What's the point?

I watched an episode of "CSI:" years ago where someone shot a bullet into the air and it came down and killed someone.

Quite frankly, I'm mystified as to why anyone wouldn't want to wildly shoot a gun into the air.

I'm a little disappointed that the practice is reserved for celebratory purposes.

Me too! Sounds like noisy, home-spun fun!

Truthfully, here in south-end Columbus, New Years is a good night to find a room deep in the middle of the house and stay there. Fourth of July too, for that matter.

Seeing how I was at the park earlier that day, and having seen what the surrounding neighborhood looks like these days.

I doubt it was a NASCAR fan in that neighborHOOD.
