Have you ridden a Scat/Scat2? Standing flat-ride insanity...

I'd Scat 2 my pants on that thing.

sorry... too easy...

But in all seriousness, I'd probably barf, at the very least.

Just a note to those purchasing rides...

Take heed - these rankings show the top 7 rides have ZERO inversions total. Of the top 17 rides, three have inversions (Banshee, X2, and...or...Maverick).

Something to consider when putting a large cap-ex project on the board.

Just sayin'....

Also, only 7 of the top 30 are wooden coasters (if I count El Toro), so keep that in mind too.

I was just looking at my personal rankings. All but three of my top ten are wood. And one of the steel used to be wood. YMMV.

That seems to line up with overall steel vs. wooden coaster counts, no? I don't think that necessarily means wood coasters are less likely to appear in the top 100 because they are wooden.

Gonch loves numbers and statistics. So do I.

According to RCDB, less than 6% of all currently operating non-powered coasters are wood. Being generous, I eliminated all family, kiddie, and unclassified steel (counting only the ones labeled "extreme" or "thrill"), and still counted all wood coasters regardless of class. So of those remaining categories, 11% are wood.

Taking that into consideration, 23% of the top 30 and 40% of the top 10 being wood (or even 20% and 30%, respectively, if you don't count Toro) seem like pretty good numbers.

Yeah, I didn't really mean to go all enthusiast and defend wood coasters' honor. Truth is I don't care, I just found the numbers interesting.

This is an effective summary of Coasterbuzz.

what is the correct ratio? (.75)Enthusiast? I'd suspect the 'cool' zone is about (.64 to .78)E

There are some interesting movements in the CoasterBuzz Top 100 this week. El Toro takes the number 1 spot away from Leviathan and Intimidator passes Behemoth for number 9. Cheetah Hunt was the biggest mover, dropping 3 spots to number 80 on the list. Also, reentering the Top 100 is Riddler's Revenge at 100.

Loving Maverick since 2007!

Steel Phantom is currently tied for 100th on the list. I guess that makes it the #1 defunct coaster by default?

Is there a way to see the number of riders for coasters that aren't on the top 100 list? It would be interesting to see how many riders there are on coasters I rank highly but don't make the list. I'd imagine we're pretty close to seeing fury 325's debut as those with big track records add it- we close to that ~45 entry barrier yet?

The rider count has to be in the top half of experienced riders, remember.

Hopped on Banshee this Sunday - and remembered why I put it so high on my list. Boy, is that ride impressive. I'll tell you what, too - the park was moderately crowded due to the weather, we wound up waiting an hour for Back Lot Stunt Coaster, 25-30 for the Beast, Diamondback was almost an hour and stacking all 3 trains, it was about 35-40 minutes for the Vekoma kiddie, but Banshee was 15 minutes, tops. That thing is a people-eating monster.

What is it about the designs on many of the inverts that makes the dispatch interval so near perfect?
