I know we make jokes about pancakes around here, but here's a chance for some free pancakes and a fundraiser for Give Kids The World Village:

Perkins has closed all their restaurants here in Rochester, NY. They were everywhere in the area and all closed in 1999 (most were converted to Denny's), they returned and opened a few new locations around 2006 or so, and those few closed again in 2012. Bummer, I like Perkins pancakes and GKTW...
But then again, what do I know?
Three different Perkins locations, Uncle Coaster? You must looooove pancakes!
We have a few Perkins left here in Columbus, but with a Bob Evans on every corner, TeeJaye's, a local chain, Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, and IHOP recently setting up shop here the breakfast market is fairly saturated. I'm going to try to go to this, though. Not only do I love pancakes, but GKTW is my charity of choice these days.
We also have quite a few diners and restaurants that do breakfast, or early day only. Like Sunny Street, Marie Scamblers, First Watch, and some locals. We're involved in a fun charity breakfast event each year sponsored by Ohio Poultry Association to benefit Nationwide Children's Hospital. It's called PJs & Eggs and we ask the breakfast-only places to open for dinner one night a year and offer their regular menu. Diners are invited to bring the family, dress in (decent) pajamas if they like (the kids love it), and have breakfast supper. We ask that they bring new pairs of kids pajamas and in exchange they receive a coupon for a free dozen eggs. Response is great and we collect thousands of new jammies for the kids at Children's that normally don't have much. And in spite of our efforts, the ones we collect only last about 6 months, so there's a great need.
That's off on a tangent, I know, but I can testify that breakfast promotions are a good way to raise money and awareness.
The only times I go off my normal breakfast routine (almost appetizing frozen breakfast sandwiches washed down with store brand diet soda) are situations like these and enthusiast events. The first because doing a good deed is the best excuse to eat bacon, and the second because, well, the park went to all the trouble of making bacon.
Life is something that happens when you can't get to sleep.
