The Ohio Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Jacob T. “Jack” Falfas is not entitled to be reinstated as chief operating officer of Cedar Fair. The high court reversed decisions by an arbitration panel and the Toledo-based Sixth District Court of Appeals, both of which said Mr. Falfas should be reinstated. In a disagreement with form CEO Dick Kinzel, Falfas said he was fired, while Kinzel said that Falfas quit.

I can't imagine that there was any other possible outcome. Hopefully he'll drop it, take the money, and everyone can move on.

There's a professional risk in being in the same place for most of your career. This was certainly true for Dick, and I suspect largely true for Jack. The problem is that you're in kind of a bubble and it's often hard to see outside of it. You get set in your ways. And when you have fewer competitive pressures (in the traditional sense), you're likely to get complacent. It certainly doesn't help when you have a culture of fear where no one will question anything you do.
