Discrimination against Tall People.

As many of you now know, All of the Deja Vu's have a Maximum height requirement of 6'4". To many people in the coaster community, this is totally unfair. We know it is for safety, but many coaster companies need to consider the differences in the American market. People come in all different sizes, and the sooner they realize this, the better. Not everyone is under 6'4" or even 6' and has a waist size of 20" something... It is really bad... I was rejected a ride on Dueling Dragons because I'm too tall, and now, I'll only be able to ride Deja Vu due to a 2" height difference! Am I the only one who thinks this is unfair? It's because the majority of people are really short...Thanks... :(

When you get older you'll shrink some.. :)

That is pretty interesting that the maximum height would be so low. In fact, I've never even heard of a max height. It's a tough call I guess. Do you design rides to accomodate 70% or 99% of people. Heck, I barely fit into my Miata!

Yes, I started a topic similar to this one today too, and I am very tired of it. I know it's for safety, but all Vekoma has to do is cut down on the foot chopper effect. I know many, many people who are 6'4" or taller, and I just think it's not fair.

Rides such as SROS, SLCs, impulses, flying coasters, and now Deja Vus will never be experienced by my brother, and maybe one day (if I grow one more lousy inch) me. I find it funny that most old coasters don't have these problems, and now, in an age where technology is rapidly growing, state of the art companies like intamin and Vekoma can't build rides suitable for semi-tall people. It's just sad.

Now I have to worry if I'm going to fit on new rides being built. I don't think X will have a maximum height requirement, but how will I know for sure until both my brother and I ride it? It is just so frustrating...anyway, thanks for your time.

Turned away from Dueling Dragons? My fiance is 6' 6" and was never turned away and I have never seen a sign regarding any kind of height limit for that ride.

Why would Deja Vu have a maximum height? I agree that it isn't fair. I am empathize with you as I am 6' (well, that is tall for a chick!!). I know my fiance will be MAD that there is a height limit for Deja Vu!

I think Vekoma will be hearing a lot of complaints from Tall people and their families about this. All so short people can have their Foot Chopper effect, they don't even care about the other riders! How selfish...

I am just sick of the coaster designers, since most of them are european, building their trains to fit their body styles. They can hide behind this all they want, but couldnt they design two different trains, one for the american market and one for european market? Im 6`5, and 16, and I find it almost impossible to fit into SOB, Vortex, and FOF at PKI! All of these are my favorite rides! They need to make bigger seats (lengthwise)

Edit: I was watching a commercial and something came to me that makes perfect sense (it was from The jeffersons video offer commercial)
"If it wasnt for short people, tall people wouldnt know they were tall!" Someone tell this to the coaster designers!

PKI_MAN is right, most of these short people don't know the feeling of being rejected from a ride because your too tall.

I hope that the parks (with Deja) have someone standing at the front of the line to address the tall people of this problem. Knowing Deja Vu and the low capicity I bet that the lines are going to be long. The last thing that a ride op wantes is a 6 1/2 foot tall man beating his a** to the ground after he waited 3 hours in line

Short people don't have discrimintaion, because ride ops purposely look for short people. Really tall people usually are the ones who wait in line, then when it is their turn to ride, are denied it, then have to leave. You ever have that happen?

Most short people can ride. Unless you are 8 years old or something. Thats why they have a kiddie land at most parks. I dont see any areas for giants. :)

Sorry I feel your pain but I'm 5'2 and I don't know what it feels like to be kicked off a ride for being too tall but I do know how it feels to be kicked off a ride for being too short. I've gotten kicked off of rides when I was little. I've gotted kicked off Top Gun and a crap load of other rides. I know that I'm going to get bashed for what I'm about to say but here it goes. I know designers can avoid this problem but is only a handful of rides while as a majority of them a lot of people are too short to ride.

Short people can always wear shoes with thick soles and make there hair realy big. Tall people dont have much of a choice other then cutting off their feet or legs.

"Their" body styles? What the hell are you talking about? Are Europeans some kind of aliens or something?

Funny how I can think of a Brit, and Indian (as in Asia), a Filipino, an African-American and a German that I've encountered all in the last week, and they were all my height and proportions.
