Adventure Island adopts a shirt required policy

Posted Tuesday, April 15, 2014 5:07 PM | Contributed by Jeff

An amusement park has ordered men to stay covered up even if it gets hot in a bid to banish beer bellies and bare chests. Bosses say they are copying the majority of American theme parks, which already have a similar dress code, in order to keep the park family friendly. Male visitors to Adventure Island in Southend must keep their shirts on under the new dress code.

This news story seems to contradict the previous CoasterBuzz news entry from Adventure Island.

From bare nipples to white knuckles - more than 100 thrill-seekers rode a rollercoaster naked. The 102 enthusiasts bared all to take their seats on the Green Scream rollercoaster at Southend-on-Sea, Essex (Adventure Island).

Amazing pier park. Loved the place - great Eurofighter, beautiful integration of landscaping and seaside elements, and a funtabulous spiral slide. Plus, really good Indian food right across the street.

At first I thought that this story was talking about Adventure island in Tampa, the water park beside Busch Gardens. I was thinking that it was going to be pretty stupid for a water park to make men and boys wear a shirt. lol

Fine! I'll wear a shirt, but I'm still not wearing pants!

Somewhere, a former (and now banned) poster is quietly crying over his inability to "feel" his environment and his body being asphyxiated by a shirt.

Did anyone else get the same general impression that I did when reading the story? Did Adventure Island hire Thorpe Park's marketing and PR agency?

This is a non-story being turned into press coverage.

Beer bellies vanish when you but a shirt on? Boy! What will they think of next. That's better than dieting and exercise.

I rely on a black shirt with vertical stripes for maximum slimming effect...

And I don't get naked at home, so I don't know why I'd do it there.

Do they require underwear under kilts? :)

(why was I thinking this was in Scotland?)
