PKI Discounts & Tips?
Against better judgement, I am going to PKI this upcoming Sunday (7/23). I was wondering if there are any local discounts that I should know about. I am a AAA member, do they have anything? Also, I havent been to the park since '85. Any park conquering tips (other than beast at nite and drop zone when the rope drops =]). All comments are appreciated.
I bought tickets in Ft Wayne In. from my mother's friend's credit union ($32). Ask around credit unions, people who work a union job (grogery store, teamsters) they almost always sell ticks to members for discounts even if the park is rather far away. I am sure some soda can will work too, look in local grocery stores.

Alright you asked for it. :-) Use AAA to all it's advantages. They do offer discount tix. I saved $10 a piece on my 2-day passes so definietly go there and buy yours. They do sell 1 day tickets too.
As to park strategies, well I usually go on a weekday so I'm not sure if my strategy will work as well for you but here goes. Unless you are right there at the opening of the lines, hold off on the bigger coasters till later in the day or evening. (unless they are walk-ons of course) Spend the early part of the day shopping, eating, playing games, or riding the smattering of carney style rides. As dinner time approaches the lines *should* start thinning out. Now is the time to hit the coasters you haven't hit yet. Be wary of King Kobra the line can be decieving. This year they have only been running one train so it can be very slow going. Face-Off also only runs one train (duh, hehe) so that one can be at least an hour wait. It's worth it IMO, but don't wait more than an hour. In an hours time, you can ride Racer, Vortex, and the Beast if the lines are cooperating. Be ready for slow, uncaring ride ops. I've never been to a Six-Flags park, but from everything I've read, PKI's are as bad. Theortecially, you should be able to do all the coasters in a few hours. If there is still time, of course ride the Beast at night front car if you can. It is truly amazing, but don't smile. You may end up picking a lot of bugs out of your teeth.
Now if SOB is running, this strategy will have to change signifigantly(sp). My recommendation is to gauge what the other patrons are doing. If the vast majority of them are in line for SoB, by all means go hit something else. :-) Just remember that the ride can close at any moment, and they do close the lines early. I've heard of them closing the line as early as an hour before the park closes. I unfortunately didn't get the chance to experience Sonny since he was closed the two days I was there in June.

I work at PKI and lately SOB has been opening to the public around noon running with one car. I am pretty sure the average wait for SOB is about an hour and a half. Unless you get in line as quick as possible hold off on riding it until dinner time. Face-Off only runs one car and the wait can range from an hour to two. Also, it can never hurt to ask those at the front gate what time SOB is supposed to open. And remember the gates open at 9 and rides start at 10 so you can get in line whenever before 10. As for discounts I know Coke cans here have five dollars off if you bring the can or you can go to the website http://www.pki.com and get a five dollars of coupon.
Anything people can update this for 2002? Any help is appreciated? I've been to PKI many times before and was mainly wondering how Tomb Raider has affected lines. Also I think I can get tickets for $25 at a cradit union near me, anything that can beat that? My ACE membership exspired so there went my 50% off.
You'll find discounts anywhere in the area. Most hotels have discounts, we stayed at Red Roof Inn last week and found 33.50 tickets. Many fast foods also have discounts.
If you are going to ride Tomb Raider, ride it first. It's not worth more than a 1/2 hour wait, in my opinion, but the longer you wait to head back to that corner, the longer you will wait for TR and Beast. I hope your not taller than 6'1'' or the trains on SOB will kill you! LATE! We also found Top Gun, Adv Express, FoF very surprising.....all were great rides for what they offered as a coaster.

I would make one suggestion, if you don`t have an ACE membership or a gold season pass, don`t ride TR:TR first. The reason is that all of the gp heads to TR:TR first. The line in the morning can be horendous. However, usually around 5 or six o`clock at night the line is shorter, but there is still a line.
