I dont know why but the two best ops I have ever encountered were female at The Point. Renee worked Magnum last year and Amanda (The coolest ever!) works The Force this year.

It's something about how girls are better with buttons when they light up and responsibility. Seriously, that's what Barb Colnar (pr person) told me when I worked there. The Blue Streak, Wildcat and Mine Ride were the only coasters with guy crews, cuz we had to push the trains sometimes (like during transfer, etc.) Plus the Blue Streak had those big brakes.

Another thing CP did, was separate the girls from the guys. They didn't want flirting on ride crews (little did they know!!!)

coasterbill, CP does have co-op crews now, I think they started them either last year with MF or the year before. The night Magnum crew (co-op) is incredable, they are realy fast and fun.

I don't know about CP, but the ones that operate RACER at PKI seem to put more effort into it than they guys, they actually race the coaster.

God bless you. :)

Seriously though, I personally prefer women operating the rides. Generally speaking they're more responsible. If you don't think that's true statistically, ask yourself why insurance companies charge more to cover male drivers.

There is a really cool ride op on the GTTP board, her name is Natalie. She works the CCMR.

I like the non co-ed crews. Nothing is more irritating the watching two operators flirting with each other, slowing down the dispatch times (I know this can still happen with all male or all female crews, but statistically its less likely).

No, they don't really "flirt." All of them are out of High School and don't pass notes to each other between trains (except to guest maybe, hehe). Not a low blow to those no still there, but you don't admit you ever flirted with a member of the opposite sex in those day, well :).

If anything I feel a better chemistry is there. They have a job to be done, and talking to Suzy Q is not as important as the task at hand. With the exception of slow incoherent people who refuse to realize the train is ready to load, I have only seen Magnum not dispatch on time with a 3 train operation once this year, and I've ridden the thing 125 times so far :). They do not just work together anyway, they live together. Opposite genders not in the same room of course.

What was the first year for this, 2000? The only ride that I still think is all male today is Sky Ride because they have to stop 800 pound cars.

Boy Jeff it's sad to say but your right. I hate how my car insurance is going to be higher because I am a male, but I guess statistics don't lie. The women at CP seem to be more professional than the guys.

Because dudes drive too fast whilst they are trying to impress their boyfriends (I've found that females are not as concerned with speed as males...on the average of course).

I could not care less the sex of the person in the control booth. But after my experiences this year with the all male crew and the all female crew on Two-Face this year, I think only dudes should check restraints. The TFFemales will lean their ENTIRE body weight on the restraints causing it to come down an extra two clicks or so. Maybe SFI just wants to control the human population by automatically spaying or neutering their guests. By contrast, the dudes pull up on the bars and ask if anyone want the bar down further.

When I was Cedar Creek Mine Ride operator (loooong time ago) I was told that there was a "coaster personality" CP looked for in choosing coaster ride ops. No one ever told me exactly what that was, though . . .
