Theme parks compete with Internet, video games for teens

With stiff competition from video games, the Internet and cheaper entertainment, theme parks are seeing reduced visits from teens, according to a new study. Research from Mintel shows that 67% of kids age 12-17 visited a U.S. theme park in the last year, compared with 76% five years earlier.

What system costs 500 bucks.. my son's xbox/kinnect bundle was 299

Your son's xbox bundle is also a 7-year old technology.

This is what all the kids will be getting this year.
(It's $499 in case you dont feel like clicking through)

I hope the fun quotient is cooler than the fun-and-only quotient. Cause that sucked.

OK, sorry for this, but I have "Blurred Lines" stuck in my head. How about playing amusement park video games (Gonch?) or playing video games at a park?

I play amusement park video games, and I would consider Boo Blasters a video game at the park.

Remember? Six Flags tried that when the Wii was all the hotness. Those stations always had people in them playing.

Two unrelated items, both non sequiturs...

First, I +1'd Gonch's pic because the kid is holding a Gators b-ball...Gatorhoops FTW!

Second, Robin Thicke ("Blurred Lines") is in fact Alan Thicke's son. If you're too young, you might need to Google Alan Thicke...

Which is why I think he's so creepy. He's Mr. Seaver's mini-me, and that's not sexy or cool.

And he's the grandson of patriarch Layiton.

My thought process when listening to that song is - "so, this is Mr. Seaver's son, singing this song? I thought Kirk Cameron was some kind of minister... oh yeah, not real life."

It's confusing, but I'm hooked on the song.

Only if you're old enough to know who the hell Mr. Seaver is.

These types of discussions where you feel painfully old....is this what they meant by "growing pains"?

I didn't watch Growing Pains, but I know who Mr. Seaver is... Tom Seaver played for the Reds in the late 70's.

I think it's incredibly difficult to not be in a good mood after hearing that song. And I loved every second of this:
