Riverview Park, "A HISTORY LESSON"

Now I remember my parents telling me many times about this once great amusement park that bordered the Chicago River and the fact that they had the great classic woody coaster called "The Bobs" but I never in my wildest dreams realized how big and grand this place was and how many coasters they built throughout its history. The park opened in the late 1800s and closed in 1967. If this park was still operational today I really think that it would have CP beat in coaster count and rich history. This made a believer out of me.

I was just reading about that place and I think I read that it had something like 11 coasters at one time. If they had eleven in the sixties, think how many they could have had by now!

There is a really good book out named "Riverview: Gone but not Forgotten" by Chuck W (something, it's a polish name I think). It tells about all the coasters (and a good deal of flat rides and shows) that were at the park. My parents were big RV fans too, so i bought the book for my dad several years ago.
