What a strange story. Is Diamondback a well-known hangout for pedophiles, or what? Why not Vortex, or even one of the wave pools at Soak City?

Did this guy have Google glass and the cops just called them his sunglasses?

Thank goodness "someone" reported him before he either got a child or had the opportunity to retrieve his 4,000 rounds of ammunition. That unnamed person is a real hero.

He had a video recorder in his glasses. Much less expensive than a $1500 ripoff from Google.

Of course he was acting suspiciously. If you are going to bother with video camera glasses in an amusement park, you should be shooting coaster POV, not trying to peep on misbehaving children!

This is similar to the topic about the gun found on the Animal Kingdom ride. About the ammo - I said it once and I'll say it again - you don't really a weapon) at an amusement park. And don't try to make it even more unsafe by trying to kidnap a child! This is just ridiculous.

So you're anti-kidnapping, then? Interesting... very interesting.

You can say it once and then again, but I think it all goes without saying...

I got chills reading this. So glad someone saw him and reported him. That's some seriously creepy stuff right there.

What an idiot! Everyone knows the best place to kidnap children is the supermarket when the parents' backs are turned!

This park removed their metal detectors. He could have easily brought some of that ammo/gun into the park and killed someone if he wanted to.

Because medal detectors stop all forms of violence.

They work if you want to keep Michael Phelps out of your park, though.

But this guy wasn't carrying gun or ammo in the park. The fact that he was so armed is really not particularly important to the incident except to offer additional insight into the man's...uh..."character". He COULD have brought a gun and ammunition into the park and killed someone if he wanted to. Obviously that isn't what he wanted.

Given the type and number of incidents that do happen (or are stopped) in amusement parks, could it be that checkpoint searches for guns, knives, and worst of all, sandwiches might not be the most effective means of preventing bad things from happening?

To me, following your instincts when you see something potentially dangerous (esp. those involving children), and sticking with the principle of "if you see something, say something" means law enforcement has the kind of help they can REALLY use...

That's the park's flaw, then. Not saying that the kidnapper should've brought the gun, I'm saying an amusement park is full of people; therefore all safety precautions should be taken.
