Well, sad thing is that THIS year is probably going to be one of their worst years in a long time...
Reason being is that first of all, they really got absolutely nothing new, plain and simple!
The 2nd thing is that I heard Cascade Canyons (the mat water slides) will NOT be open this season because it is suffering from structural problems... hense, making the water park experience last no more than an hour at best! (they took out over half the water park since becoming a Six Flags property in 1999 including the Cascade Canyon).
Because of this, 2001 may be a more dismal year, but 2002 is shaping up to be a really much improved year, and this is my predictions:
1) The Cascade Canyon will be taken down pernamentally & Cuda Falls will be re-located across the way and put up near Elk Lake (next to the wave pool) so it's on the same side.
Along with that, they will add a couple other water attractions such as more tube slides, body slides, a lazy river, or some other water attractions)
2) Because that entire area will be cleared out where the entire water-park area once stood, they will probably put the long-awaited Shoot-The-Chutes ride built by Intamin. It may be no record breaker, but it will be a nice water addition.
Both 1 & 2 was basically to happen this year, but who knows why they didn't go through with it
3) They will finally get rid of the Darien Square pools and put a flat ride there. In the place, it will either be a Huss Fly Away (I heard local officials from SFDL were taking a good look over at SFNE's Fly Away), or a S&S drop tower (twin towers... not quad like Cedar Point. Park isn't big enough).
4) They will finally extend the so-called "Metropolis" area of Darien Lake, connect it around Predator and add a ride there, or possibly move a ride there and put a new one as well (giving a little more green space in the original location of the re-located ride).
5) If they really want to set the standard for improvements in one year, the MAY add a roller-coaster. I just don't know where they'd put it unless they take out some of the open RV camping section (behind the Go-Karts)... for that, I predict something like X-Flight, or our first Beemer!!
Again, this is speculation, but a lot more realistic than my wish list!
