We posted some official Space Spiral destruction photos and video on the PointBuzz GateKeeper construction page. It looked awesomely violent.

I'm sure it's just me, and it's an entirely different thing..but it felt a little weird watching that video the day after 9/11.
The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

Poor thing.. I'm sad for it.
But it is cool to see it come down. I joked to someone that I thought they should implode it Vegas style. I guess they did, kinda. And they took the doomed cabin to the top for the final descent, didn't they? Probably for extra weight. On the second vid, notice how the cabin slides even further up as it falls. Yikes!
Ah well.... Buh bye, Space Spiral. I knew you well and will miss you.

...I really expected a bigger noise, even captured on video.
Apparently they dug a hole in the sand where the cabin landed, to slightly cushion the blow.
I think they should have done an auction to push the button.

Oh man that was awesome! That swooshing sound as the cabin zoomed up as it fell was really cool.
I'm actually pretty surprised by this, I thought they would have to use a crane to deconstruct it. I wouldn't have though imploding it was an option. They should have done it while DT was still there, that would have been much cooler of a crash lol. Plus they could have used the footage for a disaster movie.
It'll be weird not having it there.
It wasn't imploded. It was toppled via precision explosives. If it were imploded, it would have fallen straight down.
