Former Marineland workers allege animal neglect

This is all over the news in Ontario right now. Despite my love for Dragon Mountain, I can't support a company that is hurting animals in the name of entertainment.

At first it sounded like bitter ex employees. But those videos are incredibly disturbing.

I've seen a couple facebook groups are planning protests outside of Marineland on the 26th

A friend who lives in the area says there have been protests there every Saturday for years. I've seen the facebook groups as well so assume because of this they will be much bigger.

Not sure how factual this is but I've heard that the guy who owns Marineland has turned down offers from several other chains to buy. It does look like one of the properties that Six Flags would have tried to grab a decade ago in that huge expansion.

In my dream world the owner is forced to sell and Blackstone steps in and makes it a Sea World park. Animal problem is fixed, and Dragon Mountain is saved with more coasters on the way.

If they didn't want to keep running a park in Northern Ohio, I don't know why they'd want to run one in Southern Ontario.

On a seperate note, the walk up the mountain to the drop ride is brutal. But, the view is pretty cool once your up there.

My dream world pays no attention to park closures in Ohio! :)

The park is rammed in July and August which is probably why there's been offers to buy it. There's also a lot of unused land there for expansion which would be appealing to a buyer. Also a steady tourism pool to draw from with The Falls next door.

What is it with you and brutal hills? Is it a masochistic streak or simply a compulsion to climb? ;)

It was worth doing oncee to say that I did it. I won't do it again. :-)

The walk up to the Sky Screamer is particularly brutal, especially if it's hot. The whole park has football field length walks of nothing between some of the attractions, it's incredibly odd.

It is odd, and I kind of dig it. It gives the park more of a...park-like atmosphere. But that hill in the middle of it is just weird. I can't imagine that anyone takes repeat rides on Sky Screamer unless they're consecutive. I wouldn't want to trek up there again.
