I've heard thru the rumor mill that a Maverick-style ground hugger is in order.

Ooops... I'm commenting in the wrong thread, aren't I?

Sad to lose another log flume. Aside from already mentioned reasons they also have incredibly low capacity. Having worked at a flume, it's very difficult to to try group up the boats. For some reason people don't like to straddle a damp seat with strangers. :) They obviously don't give the same bang for the buck that the parks are looking for these days.

Next to coasters this would be my favourite type of ride in a park. It's sad to see them disappearing.

Very sad it's leaving. Always loved the ride and the intimacy of of it covering the hilly side of the park. I have not been to SFMM since I moved from Southern Cal to Chicago IL in 1992, but this makes me sad. Worse for me, was that Free Fall was also removed. Loved that ride. I will make my way to go again and make sure I ride Lex Luther Drop of Doom. But it's a bummer that Log Jammer will be gone.

True these rides might have HIGH maintenance costs, but they are very popular and entertain a lot of people that paid a HIGH ticket price. These parks have become so money-grubbing these days its sickening. It's not about providing great enteretainment so people will come back again and again. It's all about cutting costs and jacking up prices for short term profits. Six Flags is the leader in this philosphy.

Because the park exists as a charity?

You mean you don't go to SFOT to ride "Soup kitchen: the experience"?

Theme parks are not businesses. They're there for our selfish enjoyment.

Last time I went, the FlashPass users made the wait too long.

I, for one, regularly pay to go to parks I dislike. Why should they have to bow to the whims of customer demand?
