Georgia Cyclone getting topper track

Very cool! Hopefully this once kick bootie ride will roar again! Almost anything would be an improvement from it's present condition.

Yeah, I passed up on multiple rides during ACE's convention in 2008. 1 ride was more than enough for me.

After riding the Georgia Cyclone this year, I thought to myself the only way to fix this ride was with lots of gasoline and a match. If Topper Track can save this ride any ride can be saved...

It wasn't THAT long ago that GC was one of the best and most exciting Cy-clones out there. I thought it rated *slightly* below Texas' version at AstroWorld. Somewhere around 6 or 7 years ago, it didn't seem like SFoG was maintaining their prior schedule of fixing GASM one year and Cyclone the next. Since then, it's been a steady decline...had an opportunity for a back-seat re-ride last season, and passed. Me. Anyone that knows me at all knows how bad a wooden coaster has to be running for me to do that.

I rode twice in the back row last year bracing for the worst but my rides actually weren't that bad, in fact, the airtime was amazing. That fourth hill still gets me every single time.

This upgrade will make a great ride even better imo. It's a very "aggressive" back car.

Upon riding this past September, I dubbed it "Jackhammer: The Ride" and commented that saying it doesn't track very well erroneously implies that it tracks in some form. I would take MM's Psuclone, which felt like it has square wheels, over this one; these wheels felt octagonal.

GASM fared a little better; at least it was re-ridable. On a side note, I found this park to have the best (smoothest) B:TR of the various SF parks I have visited. :)

Erm... octagonal wheels would probably track better than squares, geometrically speaking. "Triangular" would've helped your comparison a bit better

Georgia Cyclone has never given me anything but good rides. Guess I never caught it on a bad day.

Have to agree with BullGuy. I just rode this closing weekend in October and loved it. Yes, it's a bit rough, but the air in the back seat makes up for it, unlike the GASM which was smoother but rather dull.

The blue train is a lot better than the red train on the Cyclone.

I thought the proper phrase was "CI-clones". Though I'd still go with the mirror image Viper.

Hmmm....I don't recall any term for them collectively. But individually we had the T-Clone, the G-Clone, and the P-Clone. Oh, and the Viper. Go figure.

Note that half those rides are now gone.

I don't understand all the love for Viper. Sure it's butter smooth and the lap bars are nice, but I found it to be very dull--even at night. For my experience, the airtime was incredibly weak and it had quite poor pacing.

I thought the Georgia version was much more exciting.

^Viper is all about the car 1, especially seat 3 ;)

That seat almost killed me once. True story. Came over one of the hills, and I guess my seat belt wasn't entirely latched, as it decided to unlatch when I was thrown into it.

I'm sure I was fine, but it was still really scary when I heard a "clink" then went higher than expected.
