Dollywood is seeking $500,000 from HUSS Park Attractions and HUSS Parts and Services, the German companies responsible for building and maintaining the ride, which was originally called the Topple Tower. The ride has been closed this year.

The Giant Top Spin, Topple Tower, and Giant Jump are all mediocre rides at best...
...but the Giant Frisbee, for all its problems, has proven to be a great *ride*. It has great visual appeal, it's a big, dramatic ride, and I've noticed that it seems to have an enduring popularity. The Giant Top Spin, like the original Top Spin, is a classic "oncer" but the Giant Frisbee is enough fun that people actually come back and ride it again.
In other words, some rides are more worth the hassle than others. :)
I just think it is a shame that Huss is becoming known for building such problematic rides. That hasn't always been their reputation, after all!

I was there a couple/three years ago, and I liked Timber Tower- I thought the ride had some cute themeing, and while not the most thrilling, was at least novel and seemed to be a good fit for the area. Nobody else in my party wanted to ride so i hurried up to get in line then, luckily, got called ahead to fill that last seat as a single rider. The very next ride after mine got stuck and we noticed those poor riders were still hanging there after we had ridden both Thunderhead and Mystery Mine twice. I'm assuming they got down eventually, and I seem to recall that after that the ride was closed for the rest of that year. It's always fun to have the last ride of the season, but not that way!
300 fot tall Intimin gyro drop tower? That's what I would like to ride at Dollywood. Can you imagine the view?

OMG!!! NNNOOOOO Dave.. That woudl be too much like Sky Rider!!!!111
Actually, I wouldn't mind at all, because Sky Rider is a very disappointing ride. They could remove it for all I care.
A Star Flyer would be really cool!

Sky Rider (Chance Aviator) is a near-perfect example of how to take an insanely great ride (Bish-Rocco Flying Scooter), make what should be an incredible advance on the design (120-foot telescoping tower), and then ultimately totally destroy it (overweight wings, kludgy controls, rigid suspension, and shoulder bars)
I mean, how is it a good idea to build it so that with the shoulder bar down you can't reach the flight control handle if it is in its full forward position? Stupid design.

And what is the point of moving the control handle anyways? The ride vehicle doesn't move much at all.
