California's Great America has been sued on charges that include sexual harassment by two men who say a photograph of them was doctored in humiliating ways and then put on public display. The men declined to purchase an on-ride photos showing them holding hands. Later in the day, friends discovered the same photograph on display at a different ride's counter - but with a thought bubble added that contained the phase "Were (sic) Fags!"

Boy Scouts, Billy? There is another group that discriminates against gays. Good going.
Thanks for the edumication about Cracker Barrel, guys.
67440Dodge... That post offends me. Can you just type AASG from now on?

I said good going because you brought another discriminating group into the topic by mentioning Boy Scouts. They do not allow anyone who is gay to be a part of their group, which is a bummer, because they are a big, mostly positive part of so many kid's lives.
I got sort of kicked out of Weblos when I was about 12, seemingly because a scout leader suspected that I may be gay. It was my first big life lesson that life is not fair, especially for people who are different.
But I would never have turned to music or my other various creative outlets if that never happened to me, so I am very glad it did. When bad things happen to someone, it makes them stronger. That's how I got these superpowers. :D

I was a "flaming eagle scout", and was never kicked out - are you sure there is not more to this story?
I typed a few more sentences, but deleted it because it was so far off topic...
This leader's son (my age) always picked on me because he thought that I might be gay. I've never been a flamer, and I don't think it is easy for people to notice that I am gay, but this kid figured it out somehow.
Anyways, he must have let his dad know. At a meeting, he asked me if I, a twelve-year-old boy, ever had a girlfriend, and if I even liked girls. He was assessing my sexuality for some reason in a pretty creepy way. Later that night, he called my Mom to tell her that Scouts was not for me. He talked her into getting me to leave.
I loved scouts. I loved the friends and learning all that they taught.
At the time I didn't put it all together. At the time, I thought that my incident was an isolated incident. It wasn't until I began reading about how discriminatory the Boy Scouts are that I realized that maybe I was a victim of their policy to not allow gays.
And I'll say it again, in hindsight, I am very happy how my life turned out BECAUSE of that incident. I do wonder sometimes though how my life would have turned out if I were allowed to stay.

That is one of the lowest things I've ever heard, Travis. I'm sorry that happened to you. You certainly did not deserve it. Hell, you were just a kid. That scoutmaster sounds like he was a real piece of work. I'm glad you not only got through that, but turned it into something positive and affirmative and life changing. :)
Edited to say 'did not deserve it'.

You'd have been a gay dude with marginally useful outdoorsy-type skills.
Thanks, Mike, but it's all good. It's not the only discrimination against gay people story that I could tell. The point of it all is that Boy Scouts of America, an organization that receives help from the U.S. Government, discriminates against gays. This goes not only for the adults, but the kids too. I don't want to support an organization that will not let a gay man be a scout leader for his son's pack (or whatever it is called), or not allow a kid to be involved because he is gay. It's sad, and puts them right there with companies like Chick-fil-A and Cracker Barrel.
LOL, Gonch. "This is how you tie a gay square knot. This is how you make a gay campfire."

+1
I have no idea. That was... umm... 25 years ago.
Send a letter to the Boy Scouts of America. They still discriminate against gays to this day, and are more public about it too.
