Actually the company name has changed to "Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters." In earlier years they built all kinds of amusement park equipment: carousels, roller coasters, park buildings, Cuddle Up rides, and Skee-Ball machines. Now it's pretty much roller coaster trains and related equipment.
PTC built the majority of the trains operating on wood coasters today. Now, there are basically two choices for wood coaster trains...PTC and Gerstlauer...unless you buy the coaster from Great Coasters Int'l (GCI) or Premier Rides.
PTC did build a train for a steel coaster...they built the train that now runs on the Texas Tornado at Wonderland Park. I wish someone would go ride the thing and let me know how it runs as Amarillo is far too long of a drive for me. I've sat in the lead car of that train while it was under development (PTC took it to IAAPA), and it was shaping up to be the most comfortable looping coaster train ever built!
