I am not a fan of paying $100 a night either. But after doing a lot of checking around on various hotel chain websites, this is one of the better deals around.
I do not typically stay overnight. I live about 1.5 hours away. But its nice to hang out on the beach, check out Marblehead Lighthouse, or even visit downtown Sandusky.

I'm not sure the problem was $100 per night. I think the problem was $100 per night for Breakers Express.
I feel bad because I told you that the aggregate opinion of the place was described as "adequate." I should have known, because I've had late-season issues in the other hotels/cabins as well.

That's exactly the problem I encountered in various years late in the season, only at Lighthouse Point and Breakers Tower. I assume it's a staffing issue. That's kind of the theme of many of CP's problems in the late part of the year.

I was hoping for a deal at Breakers this year for the short and easy walk to/from the park with so little time between ERT sessions. I've never stayed at BE, but last year the cheapest hotel I found was $75 a night way out in Huron, although it was a pretty decent place.

I stayed at that Knights Inn in early November. For a 2 star hotel, it's definitely nice. The rooms were clean and modern enough. It's not far from the heavily used railroad tracks that run along Cleveland Rd, so light sleepers may have a bit of an issue.

I've always stayed at Motel 6 in Huron. It's a really nice, inexpensive, no-frills, type of place. Plus, there is a McDonald's right across the street! It is kind of far from the park, however, but you can't beat the price.

I stopped there this past June looking for a room. They wanted $130 plus tax a night. I've never paid more than $54 at a Motel 6, and I've spent a lot of nights in them...

Is that the place that used to be a Microtel or whatever that chain is? I stayed there once a few years ago and found it to be overpriced at that time. Although they did keep their pool open 24 hours...

I'm pretty sure that Motel 6 was built about ten years ago, and it has always been motel 6. It's the first motel off of the Ohio Turnpike on 250.
I meant Milan, not Huron. Oops.
Anyways, I checked their website, and they offered me a room for $34.99 on May 16, which is the first Monday that Cedar Point is open this year.
June 4, which is a Saturday at a busier season, they offer me a room for 74.99.
I haven't stayed there in about 7 years, now that I think about it. It was always my hotel of choice back when I visited Cedar Point on a regular basis. I never had any problems at all with them. They were quiet, clean, very friendly, and even made sure that my special requests were taken care of.
The bad thing is that they are about 8 miles from the park, which is about a 10 or 15 minute drive in Cedar Point traffic.
...I checked the Motel 6 in Huron, and it's even cheaper. It's a little bit closer to the park, about 5 miles, and you can take a lesser traveled route to get to the park.
Some people would say that you can spend just a little more and get a much better room somewhere else, so YMMV.
