Lack of sale for Big Dipper is "killing" anonymous owner

What I find funny is that the guy who co-owned RWB and was selling slices of it on eBay didn't get to "meet the Wizard" either, and had to go through Tom The Apex Guy too, at least according to what he posted in that thread I linked. There was also an ACE article back then describing why they turned down Tom's offer to Save Teh Dippar, in which they also expressed their frustration in not being allowed to know who the real owner was.

I hesitate to say this since I have zero evidence, but I've wondered from the beginning whether Tom really was the owner and he just made up the "secret wife-kissing Dipper-lover" story.

The derailment happened at CoasterEXT which was held the day after Coastermania from 2005-2007.

I was, of course, joking about Wolf Ka-bobs. It is easily in my top 5 worst coasters. Kinda funny that of all the Geauga Lake coasters, Wolfie might be the last one standing, albeit in a half-demolished way. It outlived Superman and Batman!

So why would the "actual" cost the owner paid be so much higher than the publicly revealed bid?

It was known upfront that Cedar Fair reserved the right to refuse any offer on Dipper.

I would think "actual cost" would include any storage fees and insurance already paid just to keep it standing in its current location. But I'm not sure if that's what's being claimed or not...

Thing is, if a ride is relocated, the track generally can't be salvaged. So giving away (or selling) chunks of track doesn't even affect the rebuildability of the ride!

Well, he was selling it with the metal as well. They don't reuse the wood. But, they do reuse the metal, don't they? Besides, he tried to sell some chunks, I don't think he was successful which is probably why he resold it.

Part of the uproar is that people are claiming he's asking $65K for an item he only paid $5K for. So if the cost was actually higher, and there are other costs like gator refers to, perhaps he's not looking to make an enormous profit like he's being accused of doing.

The real shame is that the trains were left outside for three years and are, it's been alleged, unsalvageable. That would have been the real nucleus for a moved (but actually mostly newly built) and restored BD. More's the pity.

Oh for crying out loud... just tear BD and RWB down and bulldoze the rest of the park already. It's sad to see it standing there as a ghost park being taken apart bit by bit like road kill succumbing to vultures and other scavengers.

It's a shame too... a few years ago we did a vacation and hit Michigan's Adventuer, Indiana Beach, Wyandot Lake, Cedar Point and Geauga Lake... and Geauga was one of my favorites... would have much sooner returned there than any of the others.

I never liked the park*, SLFAKE, but understanding how some people really loved the place, I agree with you comment to just demolish and bulldoze the property already. It's like watching a loved one in a coma.

*except for Villain and Batinator, and one of those was rescued. :)
