Pleasure Beach, Blackpool opens up archives

At the Heritage Open Days sponsored event, the park opened up their private archive of exhibits, models and ride artefacts on Thursday and Friday. They showed models of the proposed concept coaster nicknamed "The Bigger One," which never came to fruition, an original Velvet Coaster train from the early thirties and numerous scaled models used in the design process of some of the park’s classic rides, including Noah’s Ark, Gold Mine and The Greatest Show on Earth.

If you're ever in England, I would definitely put this on the tourist list to see and do. I've been a few times and the way space has been optimized is nothing short of amazing.

^ The park is a bit of a building site at the moment. Sure you'll have a good day though. Roller Coaster and/or Zipper Dipper maybe closed due to the construction on the new Nickelodeon Land.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

I can't believe you're going to be riding Nashie without me Matt!

Don't worry Jim. I'll be riding Nashie *with* you also. lol

I'm well aware of the construction going on. I wasn't counting on Roller Coaster or Zipper Dipper (or some other rides) being open, but it looks like Zipper Dipper should be open. If Roller Coaster is open too, then so much the better, but I doubt it will be. I'm already looking forward to future re-visits. :)

I hear that twice. Have an absolute blast, Matt. And remember: Avalanche BPPB >>> Avalanche KD.

Sure would have LOVED to have gone thru Noah's Ark - that's probably not ever going to re-open under Amanda's "leadership", though...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Bill - if it gets you guys back over for another round I'll personally start a campaign to ensure Noah's Ark reopens once more :)

Matt - I'm looking forward to hearing your views on Pleasure Beach over the two visits :)

I really wish Noah's was going to be operational. I love the one at Kennywood. All these quirky, classic rides are what make the Pleasure Beach so appealing to me. Can't wait to slap hands on the Nashie!
