Work about to begin in Green Bay for Zippin Pippin roller coaster

With an eye on beating the winter frost, construction crews will start work Aug. 16 on pouring the concrete foundation for the Zippin Pippin roller coaster. City officials soon will select another contractor to assemble the Zippin Pippin's wooden frame, starting in September.

The coaster itself is a Gravity Group project, correct?

Yes. Although I do knida question the tenuous association with Libertyland (guessing Bay Beach isn't on the list of "related parks" since it has no current coasters).

I expect a great ride...somehow I see a trip with brats in my future. :)

I added Bay Beach. You do know you can add parks and coasters with the links at right, right? :)

I can't wait to see this coaster grow! It was great when I rode it in 1990. I sure hope PTC doesn't ravage the trains with awful ratchet bars and 'high backs' - uck!

^Ehh.. with all-do respect to Timberliners, I doubt a 'simple/slower/older' coaster like Zippin Pippin would need them. But I dunno :)

Also, I think Timberliners would remove the great air time the ride has/had.

^Wouldn't you like to know :)

It's simple physics, and experience. You will get more vertical acceleration in a train of 3 bench cars than you will with a train of 1 bench cars.

Have you ridden Vancouver's Coaster? Single-bench trains, extreme air.
