Jeff is right. No park will directly compete with another that is more than 300 miles away, about 8 states away. This "Competition" theory and misconception about SFMM vs. CP in a "Battle" is very ridiculous. SFMM isn't looking to steal guests from CP's marketing area and vice versa. The reasons as to why 3 coasters were added is because of the highly anticipated opening of Disney's California Adventure this year, and knowing how Disney parks are to the general public, SFMM saw an easy chance to feed off of the very busy market due to the opening of DCA. What else? Theme parks aren't the only things on people's agendas for things to do. Long Beache's Aquarium Of The Pacific, the past opening of LegoLand and their own constant new ride additions, Knott's Berry Farm's strong competition with their recent Perilous Plunge, and the newly furbised Disneyland Resort with DCA & the new Downtown Disney owning this year's spotlight. Three new roller coasters in one year is definitely going to turn tourist heads. I mean, why bother to go to LegoLand if you can go to a park with more roller coasters to ride than any other park in the world? It also gives guests a sense of satisfaction for thier time, money, and achievement. So all of you just stop with this three roller coasters just to get the record bull. In a sense, that might have been the case, but not the primary reason. I mean, if you're going to build two and you're one shy from grabbing the record, why not just add that extra one to accomplish another eye grabber?
