The Stratosphere celebrated the grand opening of its latest thrill ride, SkyJump, Tuesday morning, picking up a place in Guinness Book of World Records. The hotel-casino was presented with the record for world’s longest commercial decelerator jump. The only other SkyJump in the world is at Auckland, New Zealand’s, Sky Tower, where the fall is 627 feet.

I'm already hearing negative comments about this like, 'It's not even a true freefall', and 'Only 40mph? That's LAME!!!1!' (paraphrasing, of course). I guess the fact that it begins with JUMPING OFF AN 800-FOOT TOWER doesn't matter.
Looks like a fun ride. Kinda pricey, but that's to be expected since capacity will be quite low.
My wife and I had dinner at the Stratospehere a couple of weeks ago. After we were seated, the waitress stopped by and said 'If you see anyone falling past the window, don't worry, we are just testing a new ride.' I was waiting all evening for someone to jump, just to see what kind of reaction that might get from the other guests.
I never understood how you have a right to complain about anything living near the strip. Especially the crappy end of it.

Allow me to throw my hat in with the 'It's not even a true freefall', and 'Only 40mph? That's LAME!!!1!' crowd.
I can bungee jump three times for the same price down by Circus Circus. While I'm sure it's fun (especially if you're not big on heights), it's not as cool as it could be, and definitely not worth the price IMO. To me this is a larger, more exposed version of S&S towers, which I find boring for the simple fact that it's not exciting to descend from any height (I'm looking at you Power Tower) if you're not freefalling.

I always thought that Power Tower actually pushes the ride vehicle downward during the fall.
(Wait, is it just me, or is there a lot of topics recently where someone tries to get the discussion about Cedar Point and not what we are supposed to be talking about?)
I would love to get to Vegas someday. I'd definitely pay a visit to the Stratosphere, and I'd probably spring for some of the attractions there too. 99 bucks is a pretty high price though. I wonder if a lot of people will pay that much.

I think that is the root evil of the internet chat forums - to meander and digress...
I don't view a big swarm of it though - any digs here I'm missing?
