At least four amusement-park companies have made inquiries to the Kentucky State Fair Board about taking over operation of Kentucky Kingdom, which the Six Flags company has said it will no longer operate. The lease has not yet been terminated, and there are questions about whether or not the board owns any of the rides.
Read more from The Courier-Journal.
I am amused by all the people commenting that they should/will have this park reopened in a few months with a new company running it.
It will be tied up for years in court about the ownership of the rides
By the time they figure it out the weather and inactivity will have destroyed any value these rides have.
If they owned the rides, perhaps they too should participatein the Lassiter settlement.

Ooohhh, SNAP, Jeff!
Did they help to purchase any of the new attractions that KK installed over the years? The article is down for maintenance right now (just like a lot of SF rides are, on a busy day lol), but I read somewhere else that the fair board didn't pay property taxes on the rides; they left it up to SF.
This is getting interesting...and sad.

The park will not re-open, end of story.
Don't you think you are putting the cart before the horse? Even if SF moves a bunch of rides, the fairboard could easily wait until 2011 to have a new operator lease the land, and possibly purchase a bunch of rides to fill those spots.
If alot of interest is out there to keep this park and seems like that is the case, this place will see the light of day again.
My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
