Intamin Hypers or B&M Speed?

If you were the last person on the face of this planet and you had to make a choice between an Intamin Hyper or a B&M Speed, which one would you choose and why?

Intamin, have you seen EGF?? Plus they're cheaper & I'd use the left over cash to buy a McClaren F1 Supercar to hoon along the empty roads! (Then again if you're the last person on Earth, money doesn't apply.)

That's in spite of the fact I've never ridden a Hyper. I say leave them to Intamin & leave loopers to B&M. *** This post was edited by Taipan on 6/7/2001. ***

Intamin, Intamin, Intamin. I havent had the pleasure to ride any of B&M's hypers yet, although I am going to SFGAdv to ride Nitro in a week, but people who have tell me coasters like SROS and MF blow Nitro away. I've seen the layouts for all o B&M's spped coasters and was a bit dissappointed to see what they came up with. They are so great at designing loopers, I expected they would be the same at Hypers. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure B&M speed coasters are great, but Intamin's are jsut better IMO.

I would have to say Intamin for one simple reason, no mid-course brakes. I think B&M's are smoother, and much more comfortable, but hypers are all about speed and brakes interrupt that. Nitro is an awesome ride, but after hitting the brakes, it just seem like the ride should end, even though the finish is fun. SROS at SFNE just keeps up the pace until the final brakes, as does MF.

Well this is a one sided debate, mainly becuase there inst a B&M speed out here on the west coast yet, but Magic Mountain might be chamging that soon. Since Knoots is changing the Intamin on the west coast Next Year, :), I also think becuase there are only Three B&M Speeds, and Three SROS, ONE MF, any others i cant remeber.

Why would Magic Moutain get a third hyper? After this year they will have 2, just like CP. I doubt many people could see CP get a third hyper. (Yes, MF is a hyper! It is over 200 feet, is it not?)

I like B&M better. Maybe I could judge it better if I could ride a Intamin, though.

Wouldn't you consider Goliath as a Beemer? What with the history of the two companies & the track etc.

I'd have to say B&M, as I have yet to ride an Intamin Hyper. Wow...something better than a B&M...I'm skeptical, but this really makes me wanna ride MF more than ever now. I have to say that Raging Bull is THE best coaster I've ever ridden.

If Intamin hypers had B&M's wonderfully crafted trains, I would immediately side with Intamin. But it's more complex than that.

Definitely Intamin! EGF looks like it has one of the best layouts ever and I know Superman(NE) is the best steel coaster out there, IMHO.

Yes, this is very complex. I've been on MF so there's my vote for Intamin, and I've done AC at BGW, so there's my B&M vote. Although, I can say from the coasters I've been on, MF is just a different experience in the whole from anything else the least bit rollercoaster, so I'd have to see the other Intamin product before I made a mind about it(if I had to:)). I like the AC trains, feet out to fly, and the restraints! I'll never know:(.......

If you were the last person on Earth, who would you pay your money to? Anyway...I'd choose Arrow, because they have diving drops in their last hypers. Between Intamin and B&M - I'd choose B&M, because they run smoother.(Is this ok to post; if not please delete it! No go on...it's ok!)

B&M. I've ridden Raging Bull and S:ROS at SFDL and I liked RB much more. RB has air along with tall turns and twists. S:ROS kept more to the ground with its turns.

like the young jedi here, I have ridden both RB & S:ROS (SFA though) and I liked Raging Bull better (favorite steel coaster). But that is because I think the RB layout is more interesting. HOWEVER, it doesn't have the great "Get your hide outta that seat NOW!" ejection of S:ROS. If Intamin had done the RB layout I couldnt imagine anything much better. I just love the *feel* of Intamin hypers.
