Integration of SFO and Sea World...my thoughts...
I've been thinking for five minutes and can't remember what it is. What's SWT? The Southwest Territory is my only(though I think it's a good) guess.

The trees were there well before Iron Dragon was, so it's not as if they were put there to be a 'setting'. I'm not sure where you got "surrounded by trees" from. All I meant was that CP has quite a few trees on the grounds, and many rides have trees close by. Millenium Force, Magnum, Blue Streak, Cedar Creek Mine Ride (which truly is a themed coaster) and Mantis, not to mention the CP & LE railroad, Ocean Motion, White Water Landing, and other attractions also enjoy nearby trees.

Slither: But is CCMR really themed? I've now ridden it three times this year (dont ask me why :)) but I didnt see a lick of themeing on ride or even in the queue for that matter. It *should* be themed, but like most of CP's other coasters, it's just sitting there.

And I'd say the best of Great America's themed areas. Very well done.

Perhaps I was being generous to our friend Koaster King? As Cedar Point theming goes, CCMR does enjoy some thematic surrounding (the rubble at the 'mine entrance' and the mine themed station, for example). It's not just a station and a queue with no theme, such as Millenium Force, or Magnum... or Iron Dragon.
"Wrong" is too harsh of a word. I would agree that there is nothing "wrong" with an unthemed coaster. But themeing can do a lot to help a ride. I'll give an example:
IMO (and I stress in *MY* opinion) Ice Dragon and Raptor share a similarly poor layout. The pacing is off, they have a wack cobra roll, and generally the forces are not up to other inverts (see Montu, Fire & B:TR). However, I like ICE slightly more because there are great visuals on and around the ride. Dueling Dragons undoubtedly has the best themed coaster queue Stateside (though I'd love to see the Nemesis queue) and with the castle-wall near-miss ICE provides a real "oh shizznit!" moment. If it was just plunked down over a midway (ala Raptor) i dont think I would like it as much. Neither coaster is "bad" (lackluster yes, but "bad" no) but the themeing helps the ride experience of ICE.

I believe theming really helps a coaster as well and I think that going through an interesting station(good ones at Universal) is so much better than a queue which is line, turn, line, turn, line, turn, line,... and you're surrounded by, tah-dah, people the whole time. I think I get enough of that on the midways. Cedar Point should get an award for being best at surrounding you with people all day unless you're actually on the ride. More people per capita than any other park in the nation.(All my opinion)
And I think CCMR and ID were themed. Again, just really badly. Really badly. I think CP likes to "theme" their lesser attractive coasters(CCMR, ID, DT). And slither, like you mentioned, the dense trees help theme those rides as well(train, Frontier Trail, CCMR). It's a forest type area your going through. how did this subject of SWOhio turn into Theme's at CP , Just a thought. So i will continue with themeing. CP is not made to be a themed park, It's made for amount of coasters.CCMR is a little themed, with the fence and the mine cart house thing ( whatever that is ) I think that has gotta be the smoothest ride at CP also.
On the other hand there's IOA were every single ride is themed , and i mean every single ride.
CP needs to get theme's though , i think the ride is more exciting w/ themes . Like Alpengiest

No it didn't get to ride it way back then Jeff, but I wish I had so there could at least be one point I could ride it thinking it was a halfway decent coaster. Big Bad Wolf and Top Gun spoiled me beforehand. Maybe they let the trees grow there to theme it to the way it is now. There's nothing better than natural theming(The Beast comes to mind). In this case, it does make it slightly better than being completely bare. Put's a little more fun into it.

Perhaps we're using theming to mean different things. I take theming to mean using design elements in signage, structure, ride elements, landscaping, etc, to create a specific theme around a ride or area, like a visit to the Batcave, or a trip into space. Given that, 'natural theming' seems to me to be an oxymoron, like jumbo shrimp. What do you mean, exactly, by theming?
