Integration of SFO and Sea World...my thoughts...
Honestly, I don't see any improvement to the ride side. I see vandilism EVERYWHERE! It even is in one of The Villain's trains! The employees are very rude! Although you will come across a funny or nice one every once and a while. Believe me, I could go on forever about the park. I find that the coasters are very good but the park itself is terrible, the ride's side that is. Amen Clarkbar!

I'm with Clarkbar and Jeff here. I too was kind of ticked when SW was bought by the dark side. SWO was a nice relaxing family day. I hope that side is not invaded by rides. Don't get me wrong I like rides too but I also liked the seperation. The one thing I hope is that SF learns from the former employees how to handle customer service. The one thing I wonder is if SF got any trade secrets from the purchase. For example Busch parks no how to feed people the right way. If I wanted a Taco Bell taco I would drive down the street. I woder if they obtained those distribution connections?
Personally , Even though SWO is a familly park I think they need more rides or something. Don't take me wrong Kraken is a great Rollercoaster and Journey to Atlantis is probably the best water ride i've been on. About the SWO thing , I really have no coment on it because i live in Florida and go to the Orlando Sea world so as long as what you guys do up there doesn't affect us down here it's cool. I'm kinda looking forward to my SFWoA trip because of the new SW addition . :)

Obviously Clark, you dont know. Go to an SF park besides SFWoA, I suggest SFGAm or SFStL and check out the themeing on B:TR. Heck, when it's open come out to SFA and see our Batwing or up to SFNE and see S:ROS, then tell me that Six Flags doesnt know how to theme a coaster!

SWSD is trying to get approval for some rides in there park. You need to get a life if It revolves around worring what SF will do to a park. Either go or don't go. We are tired of people crying about how SF will ruin SWO. SW already destroyed SWO when they made the choice that they cared less about the local people than they did the bottom dollar. SF has taken the ball that SW dropped and is now running with it. Go cry to SW.

Kraken doesn't disrupt the animals at SWF because it's at the very back of the park, and the track is filled with sand to dampen the sound. About the only place you can see/hear Kraken near the animals is at the Pacific Pointe Reserve, which is their big habitat for the Sea Lions. You can barely hear the trains, and the Sea Lions are noisy, they constantly bark, begging for food from the people.
JTA is next to Kraken at the back of the park, it's not noisy. It's kinda like these two rides have thier own little section.
And yes Clarkbar, Kraken and JTA are theamed to the max. The queues are covered and tell a story, and the rides are incredible. For example, comparing Kraken to Medusa West, Kraken goes underground, and at the end it does a 180 degree turn past an underground waterfall that you can slap with your hand if you're in the left seat. Medusa's 2nd half of the ride is over a parking lot, and the 180 turn simply goes back into the brakes, no comparison. So I agree that Six Flags won't add rides to that side, and if they did, there is no way they would do full theaming. I wrote them a letter telling them this. Once you visit BGT/SWF, the six flags rides seem naked, and that's what we're talking about. It's like, "Hey, where's the underground loops, the theamed queues, the stories?"
You people need to put SWF in your plans if you haven't been, it's worth it.

Thank you 2Hostyl! Obviously, Six Flags isn't going to theme many if any of the rides already there when they bought the park and if you have every ride themed to Batman or Superman, that would probobly be pretty boring. Some rides especially ones at SFGAm almost theme themselves, becasue just waiting and looking at the ride knowing your turn is coming soon is pretty thrilling. I know Shockwave(GAm) freaked me out the first time I saw it and while I was waiting to ride it. I'm not positive, but areb't there only 3 coasters at BGT themed and 1 at SWO. There's so much less they have to do for just a couple rides. People complain that some SF only have 7-8 coasters. Oh well. I know that SROS(NE) and BTR are wonderfully themed rides and that Six Flags theme rides they believe need the theming. And if I remember correctly, the so-called "Best Amusement Park in the World" doesn't theme coasters or do it extremely poorly.
My point was to say that Six Flags parks do more than they actually need to do. And why did Cedar point theme Disaster Transport, Iron Dragon, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, and Camp Snoopy to an extent then? Yes, they're an amusement park, but I was showing that Six Flags don't need to theme anything any more than Cedar Point themes. Six Flags can theme if they want and Cedar Point can theme if they want. There aren't any true theme or amusement parks out there. Amusement parks have some theme in them and theme parks leave things unthemed. I just go all out and call them all amusement parks, because they all must have amusements or I wouldn't be going. Theme doesn't always matter.
So I guess the conclusion is Cedar Point is an Amusement Park. Six Flags are themedAmusement Parks. So who actually puts more work into building up the parks? Who knows? That's not the topic of discussion though. It seems that no matter what topic we bring up on Coasterbuzz, Cedar Point it brought along with it. What themeing did the *Iron Dragon* have?. I dont think the ride was ever themed, man?. I dont know, correct me if Im wrong.

The fog effects and being over the water and around trees isn't theming? Weren't they theming it to a dragon's flight through the forest. If not, what an odd coincidence. A suspendeds more like a dragon than a 'big bad wolf' or a 'ninja'.

RB: CP is every bit of a theme park as any Six Flags. I point you to the themed experiences of Disaster Transport, Frontier Trail and Camp Snoopy. If those are *attempts* at themeing, then I don't know what is.

Joker's Jinx also comes to mind as a nicely themed Six Flags ride along with any of their superhero coasters(Batman, Mr. Freeze). X-Flight and Villain have pretty nice theming if I do say so myself(SFWoA of course). I just don't want to look at dirt on the ride. Hopefully, they'll at least put some grass there. That would make it 10 times better. I believe that STE was themed great as well.

Sometimes a fog effect... is just a fog effect, and it's kind of hard to avoid being around trees at Cedar Point. Iron Dragon has no particular theme.
Theme parks are amusement parks containing several areas, each themed to a time or place. Disneyland, or Great America, for example.
Cedar Point tried themed areas (Frontier Town in... '68? and Frontier Trail... in '70 or '71?), true, but most of the park is just an amusement park, with no theme. To call Cedar Point a theme park is, perhaps, not accurate. It's kind of like saying yourlocal McDonald's restaurant is a Mexican restaurant because it serves breakfast burritos.
Speaking of themes, I always assumed the Pagoda Gift Shop got the name and exterior to tie in to San Francisco's Chinatown, which could be seen by taking a ride on the Earthquake ride... *** This post was edited by slithernoggin on 6/6/2001. ***
