Sunday 8 April Report. Since the completion of the Olympic site at Homebush, the show has been held there every year for Easter. It previously used to be at the old showgrounds behind the CBD at Moore Park which is now 20th Century Fox Studios Sydney (Haven't been on the Backlot Tour which is a small version of Movieworld and has no coasters).
The main showground is the Baseball Stadium and exhibition halls used for other sports show off huge displays of food arranged to look like paintings etc.
Then there is the Fun Fair. There is a big Ferris Wheel which has a permanent A-Frame. This year they have Mad Mouse (Wooden Wild Mouse) and Galaxy Rollercoaster (Portable of same name). Bugger, as at the old showground they used to have the Python Loop, a Pinfari Compact Looper. Other regular rides are Ranger (Double Inverter), Pirate Boat (Non-inverting swinging ship), Zipper, Chaos, Splash Canyon (Portable flume ride), Gravitron, Haunted Mansion, Ghost Train etc.
Rainbow is great fun, it's a Huss Flying Island (Dunno what it's called) and has airtime. Since I haven't been to the show for a few years, there are several new rides. Hangover (Double Suspended Inverter like Aero 360) which was a blast, better than the Ranger as there's nothing in front of ya as with the Ranger, you sit in a cage. Going forwards, it's like going through the loop of a Floorless over and over! Mega Mix, where you sit in a traditional centrifuge, like the one that tilts like 60 degrees, only this one rises up and flips the wheel over like a Gyroscope. Insane! Claw, which consists of six B&M Inverted style cars arranged in a hexagon that spins. Then tilts back and rotates the whole assembly. Absolutely nuts!
This is all next to the Brick Pit, a massive rock quarry & a Floorless in it would be awesome, like SKC.
Photos to be developed & posted soon. Stay tuned in Buzzers!
