One day visit: Knott's vs. Magic Mtn

We're gonna make our first trip to SoCal in a few weeks, and we have one whole Monday to visit one park. We had always assumed we'd visit Magic Mtn, it being the west coast thrillride mecca that it is. But now we're wondering if we should do Knotts. What might waits be like on a Monday at Magic Mtn? Any reason to NOT visit one over the other? We have season passes for either park. Thanks for any advice.
