Disturbing News about Bull

I have been to SFGam 15-20 times since Raging Bull opened, and tonight, for the first time, they were breaking the ride at the top of the first hill after the drop! This really takes away from the airtime on that drop, which I always felt was the 2nd best moment of the ride. Has this brake ever been used before, and is this a permanent development? Does it have anything to do with Goliath?

Nooooooooooooooooo! Unbraked Raging Bull rules! I hope this isn't permanent...

If you are talking about the camelback hill, then yes, the brake has always been there and always used (though it doesnt take anything away IMO). If you are talking about the turnaround 2nd hill, then I have no idea what you are talking about as there is no brake there.

Okay, read it wrong...2Hostyl is correct. Third hill trim is in use, always has been, always will be. Thought you were talking about the top of lift trim. Sorry again.

I misread it too. Thats why my first post is deleted. I thought he meant the top-of-the-lift trim, too. Isn't that one always used, too? (not a whole lot, but just enough to slow the train a bit)

Also, it may have braked more than usual because it went on the brakes just as the block cleared, so the computer told it to stop. Before it stopped, the block may have cleared so the brakes were released. Thats probably what happend. Train-stacking SUCKS! It means slow ride-ops usually.

Yes, but that would be the 3rd hill. Bull Fan probably meant that camelback hill but if he did , then he should know that brake has been their for quite some time.

Even if the trim at the top of the lift was used, the difference in speed and "feel" of the first drop would be negligible. Give me a break, instead of rolling across the flat part at 7 mph it might be 5 mph. Oh no!

Just to clarify, I was talking about the camel back hill. (There is the first drop, then you turn around and go down, and then the next hill is the camel back, right?) I rode it twice last night with a friend of mine who has ridden it many times as well, and both times the ride was significantly slowed. Neither of us ever remembered being braked at that point in the ride, or at least not that significantly. Do weather conditions determine harshness of brakes? It was threatening to rain all day.

The brake musy have been on harder because I've ridden it 40+ times and that brake has been on for each and every ride. I think maybe twice when I rode the last trim brake was on towards the end of the ride on the figure eight. Now that brake shouldn't even be there!

Umm, people, brakes are there for a reason! To keep the train at normal operating speeds! They should be on if they are on, they shouldn't be if they are not! Jeff has explained it before. Maybe he might be kind enough to explain it again.

I just rode the Bull today (Monday) and I realy don't notice it anymore. Because I'm to busy thinking about how much air-time I'm going to get in the next few seconds. :)
