Pilgrims Plunge testing starts today

...in a few minutes, actually. :)

Shortly after 1 pm CDT today, the first boat will be lifted up the drop (about 1/3 of the way up) by crane for the first test.

Testing will continue this afternoon and tomorrow morning.

Our Pilgrims Plunge construction cam will provide a live view.

I think we'll go with the latest test for the video ... we loaded the boat with corn and dragged it to the top of the drop.

A very respectable splash, if I do say so myself. :)

A question for Paula: from the webcam I notice a new 1-storey building on the north side of the ride near the tower. Could you tell us (well, me) what that's for?

EDIT - after a second look it appears to be about 1/2-way between the tower and the base of the drop.

If I had to take a guess, I would say that is a building that will house the filter. Or maybe they are building me an apartment...

Has the Holiwatch program been dropped for this year?

Yes. Unfortunately, our plans to add the HoliWatch program for the 2009 season have fallen through.It seems the challenging economy has made it impossible for our supplier to deliver the software and hardware needed to make the project happen. We hope to find another supplier to work with to make the HoliWatch a reality in the 2010 season.
