Rainy Day Coasters
I have a question for all who read this, I'm going to SFoG (my fav. park / homepark) on Sat. and weather channel is predicting rain showers periodically, will this close all of the rides or what? I just HAVE to ride Viper,Mindbender, and GASM!!! I NEED MY COASTER FIX !!!!

I don't know about SFog but,i went to SFgadv last Saturday when it was raining off and on and,everything was a walk on!!An enthusiasts dream if you ask me and ,seeing a pretty much empty parking lot was a beautiful sight!The rain also stopped and it turned out to be he best trip i think i'll probably have all season.

I wouldn't go to SFOG on Saturday! Every line will be longer than 2hrs. It's always like that on Saturday, rain or shine.
I woundn't pay attention to any weather reports for Georgia because the weather can change so fast here.

Rickyswmn is right! I was there also around 5:00- closing and it was the best visit I've ever had to this park. Everything was a walk on. I did Nitro 5 times in a row(Twice in the front) and every other RC in the front at least once. The only bummer was they started closing stuff early because the place was empty. I would defiantly go. Even if it rains lightly for a little bit they shouldn't close most of the rides and it make the coasters faster anyway.
Rainy weather= good for coasters, as long as they are open. Ive heard some cool stories about Superman in Downpours.. theirs an illusion at times during the first drop that the rain is "falling up"... or rising in the air and you are falling faster than the rain.. strange stuff/illusions.. I can only imagine :)
Unless there are heavy downpours the rides at most Six Flags parks should stay open.

If it's heavy rain it will. I went on a sat and sunday and on the sunday it rained till about 1:00. The park was SOOOO empty it was beautiful. We did get the last ride on Batman before it was shut down because of RAIN for 2 hrs. We were pelted with rain. So, be careful they might just close down all the rides. P.S. It is so cool when it rains on coaster such as Batman. Because on the lift hill you get drenched with rain. And there is a worry through the whole ride.

Before we forget, rain is good, but lightning is bad. I was waiting in line at SFGAdv when Lightnin' Loops was still operating (but only one side). I was at the top overheard the ride ops talk about the spotters looking for lightning and that they would shut the ride down at the first sign. Lightning came down the ride after mine and they immediately sent people away.
On another note, some coasters are put on a reduced schedule. I was waiting for Medusa in the rain and with 3 train opeeration, only *ONE* was allowed to run due to the braking system (apparently, the floorless coasters with a heavy load will overshoot and skid along the tires and keep going, which throws the computer sensors off, or so I'm guessing). It also felt a lot faster through the high speed helix since the mid-course brakes did nothing.

Keep in mind not all roller coasters shut down in lightning! One i know of is Lightning Bolt at MGM Grand Adventures. One day working lead at the ride I asked my supervisor about the approaching weather and was told to keep running until it started to rain, if it rains that's the only time we close. Apparently they consider the ride grounded therefore people will be okay. Um, but what if the ride breaks down on a lift? NOT SMART. Well what do you know, since all the water rides were down due to the weather everyone either went to an indoor show or got in line for the rollercoaster making an hour long line in the middle of a thunderstorm, DUMB PEOPLE!
