Indiana Beach announces Steel Hawg roller coaster

Fun, flips, and gravity defying excitement are just the beginning of what's in store for guests when they visit Indiana Beach Amusement Resort in 2008. Indiana's largest and most popular amusement resort and vacation playground announced the first major steel coaster to be constructed in the state: Steel Hawg. The new family coaster will be Indiana Beach's sixth roller coaster and its first to take riders upside-down.

Am I reading this correctly...the first drop is 120 degrees?

If ever there was a press release announcing a new coaster in need of a 3D rendering, this is it. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone in the industry had Keith McVeen's contact info?

I thought a 95' drop was impressive, i couldnt imagine a 120'. Im gonna have to get my self down their to ride it.

There is one word to sum up that picture.....SWEET!

That drop looks scary. I'm a little shocked about the height of this coaster also. I thought that maybe it would be 40'. 96' is nearly as tall as the Hurricane.

Looks like I'll be making my first trip to IB. Woo hoo! New coasters to the west, new coasters to the east...gonna be one fat summer. :)

Well, if you want to ger REALLY technical, then "Sequoia Adventure" at Gardaland (http://www.rcdb.com/ig2942.htm?picture=28) already has the title of "World's Steepest Drop" with it's 180* drop(s).

Looks like a cool ride. The first drop is like half of a vertical loop so if you want to get technical, all these 90-, 95- and 120-degree drops have existed for years! ;)

As with most IB rides, I'd be interested to see how this fits into its surroundings. If only there was a rendering. :(
