Matthew, the fence line isn't odd at all...
There are a couple of pillars on the Kiddy Kingdom side of the Coliseum which indicate a gate or pedestrian opening adjacent to the Coliseum, there by the big transformer. The fence line runs behind the trees that line the Oceana midway, and the last post is up against the side of the Schwabinchen backstop. The next pillar is also right up against the Schwabinchen, and indicates a fenceline that crosses the path and ends up within inches of the Gazebo building. A third fenceline has already been constructed, albeit with smaller fencing than the posts would suggest, along the edge of the Peanuts Playground to a point between the rearmost pairs of doors leading into the Coliseum. A fourth fenceline extends from the Peanuts Playground to the Coliseum building, and these pillars have brackets for gate hinges. The area encompassed by that fencing includes the path between the Schwabinchen and the Coliseum, including a short segment of path behind the Gazebo, and the shaded lawn behind the treeline along the midway on the Space Spiral side of Schwabinchen.
It seems rather odd when you look at that no-traffic area; nobody goes back there, why would they want to fence that off? The answer comes with a ride on the Giant Wheel. There is a shaded area of about the same size fenced off between the aquarium and the stadium, with a few picnic tables and a couple of pop machines. I think what we're seeing between the Coliseum and the Schwabinchen is what will replace this employee refuge behind the stadium when the stadium and aquarium are demolished.
I don't think the fencing gives us anything to be excited about. But the area across the midway where no changes have happened yet...THAT is, in my opinion, the spot to watch.
