Bi-coastal Simpsons rides announced for Universal parks

A new ride based on The Simpsons is planned for Universal Studios both in Orlando and Hollywood. Universal Studios officials and The Simpsons producers Matt Groening and James L. Brooks are expected to announce a new partnership and theme-park ride today during a tourism convention in Anaheim, Calif.

Yeah, I guess its cool and all, but it is just a motion simulator. The theming leading up the the ride is what will make it or break it for me.

I imagine the ride will start off strong, be very enjoyable, then go on for way too long. ;)

They should have done this back when the Simpsons were still funny.

Ugh. One of my all-time favorite shows, finally placed in a theme park in the form of... a motion simulator? So excited... so disappointed.

It's about time they change this ride. All Back to the Future was good for was banging my head arond.

I love the new theme mainly because I grew up watching the Simsons.

Isn't Matt working on new Futurama episodes for Cartoon Network?

Yes, Matt is working on I believe 8 or 9 new episodes for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.

The reason the number is so low is that Adult Swim does not how well this will do for them.

Adding my 2 cents, I would prefer to run a themed ride that is still in main stream pop culture than a ride that really would have a hard time catching the attention of those born in the mid to late 80s who were 10 or less when the last movie came out.

Taking the coasters lovers out of the mix (yes there are others with opinions), its part (I said PART)the themeing, that draws people to the ride.. Simpsons still has an icon in the US, like the show or not. BttF is past and something you catch on TBS television on a slow saturday afternoon.
