Snyder and Shapiro invest in Tom Cruise

Heralding the start of an unusual entrepreneurial relationship, Tom Cruise and his producing partner said Monday they have joined forces with a new investment partnership that will fund the duo's production endeavors for the next two years. Their new deal is with Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins; Dwight Schar, chairman of homebuilder NVR Inc.; and Mark Shapiro, president and CEO of Six Flags Inc., the amusement park chain where Snyder serves as chairman of the board.

While it is a totally separate company that they formed for the purpose of this investment, we've known from the start that Snyder wanted Hollywood tie-ins. But is this the right guy to do business with? While one of the most popular actors of our time, the guy ain't right lately. Jumping on Oprah's couch because you're in love is one thing, but messing with Matt Lauer?

It seems to me that ego is driving all of their decisions. I still can't figure out why they need their corporate headquarters in NYC unless they just want to feel like a player. Cedar Fair is doing fairly well with their headquarters in the booming metropolis of Sandusky, OH.

Now, they all take advantage of all of Cruise's missteps by entering into a production agreement with him?

These guys need to start making decisions without first looking into their wallets. If I were Cruise, I might have a look at the recent history of Six Flags before jumping into bed with these guys.

It's amazing what "the closet" does to people.

The guy's a good actor but he's clearly an idiot. I was happy that Paramount fired him (fools like Cruise and waste-of-air Lindsay Lohan deserve to lose their jobs) and I'm pissed that Six Flags hired him. Might have been a good idea had it been with someone that the majority of people actually like.

Hate to recycle a joke but I can't resist: a Cruise-themed coaster would be all curves, no straight track ;)

So when this investment doesn't work out with Tom Cruise, will Six Flags scrap him as well.

He'll tell all the Six Flags stock holders who now are on anti-depressents to stop using them.....

Ugh, this seems like a bad idea from the start.

Moosh is just hoping that they'll have him do commercials for the new extremely family oriented M:TR opening at Great Adventure next year.

I'm not sure if anything about M:TR can be described as "family-oriented". ;)

Just another way to make some money :)

While I cannot defend nor support Scientology as my entire education about this "religion" comes from South Park... I must say Matt Lauer is indeed "glib." :)

A man goes on his show to talk about a movie and gets trounced by a journalist (word used very lightly)... Regardless of who is correct...overpaid actor and superficial journalist have about equal credibility when it comes to discussing science in my opinion.

Yet Cruise takes the fall...? ;)

I bet Cruise goes the Dixie Chicks route to keep the good times rolling. While his name is mud in the U.S...there are foreign markets who hold onto American stars long after they've worn their welcome out here. I mean Michael Jackson can still sell concert tickets across the ocean and to our friends up north. I can only guess Cruise could do the same.

...now if Matt Lauer could just cross the ocean himself...then we would know that America was heading in the right direction.
