Whalom Park Opening?

Hopefully a New Englander can help out on this one. Is Whalom going to open this year or is it goining to be closed for good now?

They have been unable to secure financing to open the park. The Bowen family, who were at one time principal owners of the park, are trying to find an interested investor. So far they have not been successful. IMO, Whalom has seen it's last season.

I haven't heard anything to the contrary so I would assume that Whalom will be opening this year. I know that the park is not in good shape financially, but I didn't know there was a possibility of permanent closure in the very near future.

I have just seen a number of major components from kiddie rides from Whalom up for auction on eBay. It appears that they are cleaning out the maintanence sheds.

Has anyone approached them about maybe getting with a theme park company like Alfa Alfa or Landmark Entertainment? Maybe they could bring some life back to the park

Being I would like to have my own park open near Indianapolis someday, I would really be willing to help any way possible within my means.

It's been rough for small to mid sized parks in New England. With a heavy saturation of parks and a retrenching economy something had to give.The land they sit on becomes more valuable than the park. Paragon,Mountain,Crescent and Lincoln Parks are but memories,along with many more smaller parks. The grand beach front resorts of Savin Rock,Revere Beach,Salisbury Beach,and Hampton Beach no longer attract huge throngs seeking to escape the summers heat. Only Old Orchard Beach hangs on by a slim thread. Times have changed,but not necessarily for the better.
