Valleyfair announces Xtreme Swing, their new S&S swing ride. This 40-seat model will send riders about 125 feet into the air.

See more on the official Valleyfair site.

It shouldn't be too long until Cedar Point announces theirs. No, really. I'm being serious.

Two 40-seat models were bought by Cedar Fair from S&S to be introduced for the 2006 season; one down two to go! And seeing how Dorney Park and Knott's already have their own Screaming Swings (albeit 8-seater versions) and Worlds of Fun and Geauga Lake already announced their 2006 additions, (and Michigans Adventure just fell off the map pretty much) I think it's almost all but confirmed and safe to say that the second one going to the Point!

On other Screaming Swing news, does anybody know if the 32-seater versions going into Kennywood and Lake Compounce are going up yet?

Cedar Point + Screaming Swing = Pretty well known fact :)

This is what the site at Kennywood looked like as of the 11th.

...and this is what it looked like as of 9/18

That said, a general question: Other than # of seats and the structure being a little wider, is there a difference height/swing angle wise between the 8, 32, and 40 seat swings?

Six Million? That seems like a lot of $ for an oversized swing!

Yeah--you coulda built a GG COASTER with AIRTIME AIRTIME AIRTIME and no 'breaks!' :)

With THAT out of the way...

A high-flying, high-profile, high-capacity new flat ride that doesn't flip anyone upside-down! It's a great fit for the park!

Not that I mind being flipped around--I love it. But not everyone does. You shoulda seen people bolt from the Riptide queue every time it took its first 360.

Nice to be getting something new every year, too. '01-'02 was not fun.

I too was surprised by the cost of the ride, but I am very pleased with the selection. I have never been on one, but it looks awesome.

" seeing how Dorney Park and Knott's already have their own Screaming Swings (albeit 8-seater versions) and Worlds of Fun and Geauga Lake already announced their 2006 additions"....

Where are the official documents for the WoF and GL additions for 2006? As fas as I know anything can happen to any of the parks, and why would Cedar Fair announce the Screaming Swing at Valleyfair, before Cedar Point?

Looks like a lot of fun to me. I'm not all that keen on going upside-down. I don't mind it, it just doesn't do much for me....that is unless I'm being thrown around at the same time, say, like on a Zipper.

So when's the giant version of the Zipper coming out Chance?

I like the fact that the ride name has a capital "X" in it.

I was told by Lake Compounce GM that the lakes Screaming Swing cost 3million for a 32 seater. How come CF's are so much more for 8 more seats ?

Does Valleyfair not have anymore room for expansion - or was Northern Lights not economically beneficial to the park? Based on the first answer, in the next three to five years, I think it would be safe to say that Cedar Fair will install a new coaster --> what would be logical for them to build and where would be the most logical place to do this? If this question cannot be solved via logic based on fact and requires the use of the crystal ball that I know you all have, lo siento.

I take this as CP won't get one now. CF doesn't usually add the same type of ride into two of their parks at the same time. If CF sees this ride to be main attraction at a smaller park, I don't think CP would get one.

Their marketing the crap out of their new ride with the blog and all, so I'd think they're going to see something a bit bigger.

From what I hear, CF definitely bought 2 of them.. so it's going into one of their other parks, if not CP. Doesn't matter to me which park since I'll be hitting them all next year.. :)

I think that the 6 million figure is probably including all the other various minor additions next year. Stuff like more concrete, street lights. Also, site prep costs could be high for this one, it looks like they will be removing part of the pond, and they have a large de-watering operation throught the site. Just a thought.

Gomez: Wrong. Both CP and VF got a Chance Chaos the same year.

Man, are flat rides getting expensive! This looks like a great ride, but $6 million? MaxAir at CP was $6-7 million. Timber Tower at Dollywood is costing $6.5 million. Bizarre, when you can build a wood coaster for less.

"(and Michigans Adventure just fell off the map pretty much)"Why would you say that KaRaX?Michigan's Adventure was sighted as having another large increase in attendance this year. Plus, if I remember correctly, they got a deal worked out with the water issue. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new ride located there.
