We’re California’s oldest amusement park PLUS a State Historic Landmark. We are the home to two National Historic Landmarks: our 1911 Looff Carousel and 1924 Giant Dipper roller coaster.

This is a great ride. Rode it on my visit to California a few years back.

Here is to another 30+ years.

Meh. That's cool it's a historic landmark and all, but the ride itself was just okay. Go if you're nearby, but I wouldn't go out of my way again to ride it. (-puts on flame suit-)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. It was a much better ride when it ran the Prior and Church trains.

The Belmont Park Giant Dipper is a better ride on the left side of the train. Most of the lateral G's are left laterals, and riders on the right side get no padding from the fiberglass seat divider, while riders on the left side get a padded side wall inside the car. Adding some sort of padding to the fiberglass seat divider could fix this for riding on either side of the train.

Still, it's good to know that a coaster that just celebrated its 80th year isn't barred from any sort of landmark status whatsoever just because it runs Morgan trains.*** This post was edited by RideSafety 9/6/2005 8:11:34 PM ***
