Utah fire will not delay opening of Italian Job Stunt Track at PKI

IMHO it would be better to open with more than one train than to open at all. 12 person car trains on a 3 minute cycle= Not worth it.

Where does it say in that article that it'll open with one train? Since the ride isn't scheduled to open with the park's first day of the season perhaps there is time to build more trains?

and who's to say that PKI is the park to get screwed out of a train? Maybe the other park building IJ will get the short end of the stick, seeing the attendance of PKI. Then again, like Moosh said, they DO have some turn around time here.

They could always throw on some wild mouse cars until they get the coopers built. ;)

No, they can`t throw on the old FoF trains. On IJST, the LIMs are mounted between the track, and are actually like The Beast`s magnetic brakes, and also act as the brake fins. On Flight of Fear, the brake fins are seperate from the LIM fins which are mounted on the side of the train.

Maybe they'll just buy some Minis from the local BMW dealer, take tires off the rims, and add some upstops.

Im just going on speculation and word through the grapevine that each of the parks have recieved one train. The grapevine tends to be pretty reliable as I have found it.

There might be time to rebuild/replace the additional trains. Depends on how much was lost. You just can't make frames and bodies without templates and molds.

Sorry for that blurb but thats why I mentioned the one train op.

I prefer the green grapes over the red ones but your opinion may vary.

If I remember one of the articles correctly, it was only a warehouse that burnt down. So they still have all of the ability to make the trains. Not to mention that I'm sure there is some "switch over" between parts on the Premiere coasters, they might only need to make some of the parts, as PKI and other parks (who might be willing to temporally part with their parts) will have enough to make the trains. Also another thing to consider, what exactly did this place make? They could have just been making the shells for the trains, and those aren't exactly needed for operation.

might I add that any company usualy has 2 sets of patterns or some sorta backup plans for the things they build in storrage outside the main facility incase of this situation... now we don't know if this was the case but im sure they had some sorta back-up

The article did say it was the storage building that burned down and that the offices are still intact. It was also a painting room where the fire started. It is a possibility that molds and others could have been in storage but rather unlikely. Most companies will not remove molds until the job is finished. Spray painting booths can be found in many places including many automotive suppliers and equipment manufacturers. There may be some delays in opening but I do not see this as a major problem. If molds were destroyed, then that will cause considerable delays.

I know that it said that the fire is not going to delay the opening of the coaster and that it was not scheduled to open until after the opening weekend anyway but does anyone know when it is actually scheduled to open. I know it has a water splash area so are they just going to wait until warmer weather for that?

I've seen three or four different articles but I haven't read any article that said the offices are still intact. The articles I've read indicate that the warehouse portion belonged to Mountain Fiber Insulation. The other half was used as the manufacturing facility for Spectrum. I think many of you are confusing the two. It wasn't a warehouse for Spectrum it was their manufacturing plant, and that is where the fire started. The building was a total loss.
