Orlando's theme parks are ending the year with strong holiday attendance after a rebound year. Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom have both had to temporarily close their gates due to the crowds.

I can't imagine being at any Disney park when they're filled to capacity. Ugh!

Anyone have a figure on the number of guests it takes to close the gate at the WDW parks?

How can Animal Kingdom fill to capacity?
They only have one lousy clone coaster!
Nobody goes THERE.

Now, now, Captain, this is Disney afterall, it doesn't matter. Did you miss your 3:30 brainwashing? Bad Captain ... bad Captain ...

When I was young I went to MK on New Year's Eve and was told that there was 90,000 in the park. That seemed pretty outrageous to me. When I went to work for Disney I asked someone in a pretty loft management position if that number was correct and he said it was, "in the ballpark".

That is a lot of people, and my misery that day confirms it.

I like Animal Kingdom. Not somewhere I'd spend an entire day (yet), but I thought it was pretty cool.

Cabin fever runs rampant... ;)

The most jam-packed day I've ever spent in a park was at Disneyland during the holidays. Butts to Nutz. ;)

I did like animal kingdom, but found it lacking in midway size for the amount of people, it was the first I visited this trip, so I gave it benefit of the doubt since CP was all I could really compare it too, but after visiting the other parks, animal kingdom doesn't seem to space the people out as much

Must be all us crazy University of Iowa fans down there for the Capital One bowl.

The lines were just awful at Disney on Tuesday. Universal was tolerable yesterday.

Growing up my parents had made taking us all to EPCOT for New Year's Eve a family tradition. It wasn't so bad at the time because that park has wide open spaces and you can kill a lot of time until midnight by just having lunch and dinner at one of the great country restaurants.

I was actually at Magic Kingdom two days ago. Got in when the park opened at 7am (Extra Magic Hour) and then headed out by 11am when the crowds neared the unbearable state. Now with a family of my own I know better than to be at one of the parks on the 31st.

I'm surprised to see that Animal Kingdom was filled to capacity earlier in the week, though I imagine it was probably the one bearable park on the 31st because that's the one park that closes well before midnight.

Damn right they did...and I was one of the "lucky" few to be apart of it. But hey, at Universal it's all good with Express Card.

With the relatively small size of Animal Kingdom, it's capacity is probably much the smallest of the Orlando parks.

Just got back from Orlando... Went to all Disney and Universal parks multiple times over the past 2 weeks. Arrived early and used creative fast pass and express ticketing to ride all the major stuff with no more than a 15 minute wait. Usually left the park by noon (with the exception of Magic Kingdom) and had it all done. Came back at night for shows and good people watching while soaking up the atmosphere.

In conclusion, the crowds did not affect my trip a bit.

P.S. Mummy is unreal in my opinion...
