Universal Orlando sells-out one Horror Night, expects more

Boy, im glad I brought my tickets and express pass last week for next week!!......

Has anyone over here went this year yet? This will be my first year and I wanna know what to expect as far as crowds and things like that.

Well seeing that it's sold out I think it will be crowded.

I know in the past few years that the number of guests allowed has *overwhelmed* the park's capacity...which is why I've been "requesting" ;) the dual-park situation....and this year they realized what incredible business acumen I possess...:)

Honestly, I don't know how much they've increased the "sell out limit", but I hope it was by *about half*....too many more than that, and they risk overcrowding BOTH parks.....HHN, it *is* that popular!

Bill-I remember reading somewhere that supposedly the sell out limit increased this year from 35,000 to 60,000 with the addtion of USF. I don't know how true that is but if it is, THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE! It's no wonder they have received so many customer complaints about overcrowding and are taking steps this weekend to open more parts of IOA to handle the people. From the reports I've read so far it actually sounds like opening up the event to both parks has hindered the experience somewhat. It sounds like it is not quite as immersive as when it was at the single parks. I guess I'll find out for myself when we go next weekend. Coasterbruh-The crowds depend on what night you go on. We've gone on the Sundays of Columbus Day weekend the past 2 years and while it was pretty crowded both times, the addtion of the express tickets made last years event much more enjoyable. Now this year, we are going on the Sunday of a non-holiday weekend, so I'm hoping that it might be a little better. If your going on a Friday or especially Saturday then you may have to deal with overcrowded midways and longer waits, even with the express passes.*** This post was edited by Pale Rider 10/15/2004 1:31:21 PM ***

Im just wondering, how do you effectively run scare zones with it being that crowded? We know the pathways in USF arent that big, its kinda hard to get scared when theres such a big group of people in the pathways...

I have to say I agree with what you've heard Pale Rider. I just got back from two nights at HHN (Wed and Thurs) and while the event is still amazingly fun, it's not *near* anywhere as "creepy" as it was when it was just at IOA. When you have to walk between the two parks, there's nothing going on, and way too much "open space." The smaller midways of IOA lend themselves to being easier for scareactors to get you.

Overall I wish it would go back to IOA.

Agreed Joe. The last two years at IOA, it really seemed like there was really no where to hide when you were out on the midways. This was especially true in the Jurassic Park and Lost Continent areas, where there are a ton of places for scaracters to hide. The only place you really felt safe was Seuss Landing and even then you had to watch out for The Grinch;) I don't want to comment anymore on the event until I experience it for myself next weekend but if Universal continues with using both parks in the future, hopefully they will learn from this year and help improve upon the concept next October.
