I think 2002 will be a remedy year for CP. They'll do a ton to the park to fix some bad reputations.
I hate bad rumors, so I am not outlandish, and every thing I say can be backed up with logic.
1) CCI wooden coaster. Ghostrider, Shivering Timbers. Need I say more? CP will get a wooden coaster unless management is more incompetant than my six year old sister at the newspaper crossword. If not next year, then in '03. They have every aspect of the coaster world covered except for a modern (late 90's) wooden coaster, and they have to alleviate this problem soon.
2) B&M Flying coaster. Why? They seem to always be second on coasters with new technology. Raptor was essentially the second generation inverted coaster (after Batman and Top Gun, both short) and Mantis, which was the second generation stand up coaster (with Iron Wolf/Vortex preceeding it). Alton Towers is getting a B&M flier this year, and if it's a success, I have no doubt that CP, which their ties to B&M, will follow suit.
3) Perilous Plunge. CP's water rides are small and outdated. I saw some cranes and land work going on behind Snake River Falls last summer. It really intrigued me, and I think that CP, again, tied to Intamin, will follow KBF in getting a huge flume, with the probable removal of SRF.
Of course they probably won't do all three, and two of the three still seems steep, these are, in my mind, 3 of the Po!nt's best options for new thrills in the coming years. A lot of people would say they'd get a Hypersonic XLC clone. They probably will, but I don't think it'll be really, really soon. They'll probably wait until an off-year to add one of those.
By the way, I was the first to say that SFGAm was getting two shuttles (an S:UE clone and an Invertigo) for this year. Essentially, that's what happened (I know... SUPER Invertigo.)
